How do you know when it is done cooking?
You can poke the meat to see if juices are red or clear. This method applies to chicken specifically. When you poke a chicken breast and the juices that escape are clear, then it is most likely done. If the juices are red or have a pinkish color, your chicken needs some more time in the oven. Ideally, if you have a meat thermometer, cook until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F. (This one has amazing reviews and is a user-favorite!)
How to make Baked Chicken with French Onion Soup Mix:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Put your fresh, thawed chicken breast in a bowl.
- Pour in your french onion soup packet and olive oil. Mix well.
Lay the chicken breast in the middle of a 9×13 casserole dish.
Next, lightly toss your green beans with the remaining olive oil mixture.
Then place green beans around the chicken breast.
Place in oven and bake for 30 minutes.
At the end of the day, sometimes you’re just tired and you need to throw something together so you can get out the door ASAP. Well, this is your answer. However, just because you need something quick doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice health and taste. This dish is packed with both and is easy in a pinch. This baked chicken is on our monthly food rotation and that is definitely not a bad thing!
*For this recipe, we used frozen green beans from Trader Joe’s. Fresh green beans would enhance this dish even more but the frozen ones work great and soak up the flavors of the yummy french onion soup mix.
